Research the claim.

The public rulings, a potential advertiser claim and an individual recovery calculation are different things. Use the source material and prompts to test each step.

Separate the finding from the claim.

Court findings, advertiser claims, illustrative estimates and individual assessment
Court findingThe August 2024 Search opinion found unlawful maintenance of monopolies in general search and general search text advertising. Read the opinion.
Advertiser claimA business may allege that anticompetitive conduct caused it to pay more for eligible Search ads. The public ruling does not decide that business’s causation, claim ownership or damages.
Illustrative arithmeticThe calculator multiplies estimated Search ad spend by 30% and labels the result before fees. That model is not an expert damages analysis, a fee percentage or a promised recovery.
Individual assessmentAccount records, product mix, the paying entity, governing terms, deadlines, defenses and available evidence need review before an accurate calculation.

Two separate federal cases

The 2024 Search case concerns general search and general search text advertising. The 2025 ad-tech case concerns publisher ad-server and ad-exchange markets. Do not treat one court’s findings as findings in the other case.
